10 best stocks for 2012 - CNNMoney.
I’m always looking for ideas on which stocks to consider. Not the next great thing kind of ideas, but sensible ideas for a sensible (i.e., somewhat risk averse) investor. I also don’t believe every word I read and avoid recommendations that contain a lot of superlatives and guarantees. So I liked this article. Check it out and see if you agree.

Risky Places To Swipe Debit Card | Bankrate.com.
Credit card fraud is relatively easy to fix: once the fraud is detected, whether by you or the credit card company, you can immediately dispute the charges and in most cases not have to pay the fraudulent charges.
Using a debit card, however, takes the money right out of your account – yup, you use it, the money is gone. So while credit card users can typically get their accounts fixed up and get a new card in the mail in a matter of days, fraudulent debit card charges can take 2 to 3 months to get reimbursed.
Check out this article to learn about the riskiest places to use your debit card, and how to be less vulnerable to the theft of the key to your money.

Bankrupt Chain Restaurants Are Still Holding On – NYTimes.com.
Have you changed your eating out habits since the recession began? If so, you are like many others, and between us all, we are creating “zombie restaurants” out of the places we used to frequent. I am sad to see Friendly’s among them (many fond memories from my teen years), but am aware that my rare visits to Friendly’s are contributing to their problems. Sad or not, eating out money comes from our shrinking discretionary spending pools. So, sorry, Friendly’s, I wish I could help you out.

Mortgage rates fall to record lows – Dec. 15, 2011.
Good time to buy a house… unless you have to sell one to do that of course. This is good news, especially for those who need to lower their monthly payment due to declining incomes and rising costs. It is anticipated that these low-interest mortgages will be available at least through mid-2012.

It’s Not Too Late: Year-End Tax Moves – Yahoo! News.
A few tips about saving on your 2011 income taxes. A few caveats: the last month of the year is a little late to make major moves, and, beware of things you do this month that will affect next year’s taxes.
A few sites to help you out a bit:
- IRS – lots of good links and info
- EZ Tax Saving – a decent website with good tips
- AARP – NOT just for the over 50!
- Bankrate.com – one of my favorite money info sites, and definitely up to par with their income tax info; you can also click on your state for your state tax help
- The Wall St. Journal’s Tax Guy offers more advanced tax help

Super young retirement savers – CNNMoney.
An awesome article profiling 6 young people who saw the value (literally) in starting to save for retirement early. If only more young people thought like this! We should be teaching this in our schools starting at a very young age. In fact, it should be required somehow. Don’t you think?
